For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety, and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith. For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office: So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. And having different gifts, according to the grace that is given us, either prophecy, to be used according to the rule of faith; Or ministry, in ministering; or he that teacheth, in doctrine; He that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Hating that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good. Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood, with honour preventing one another. In carefulness not slothful. In spirit fervent. Serving the Lord. Rejoicing in hope. Patient in tribulation. Instant in prayer. Communicating to the necessities of the saints. Pursuing hospitality.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 89 (88):2a; V. 2-3, 4-5, 21-22, 25 and 27
R. The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever.V. The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever.I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation. For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens:thy truth shall be prepared in them.V. I have made a covenant with my elect:I have sworn to David my servant:Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.V. I have found David my servant:with my holy oil I have anointed him.For my hand shall help him:and my arm shall strengthen him.V. And my truth and my mercy shall be with him:and in my name shall his horn be exalted. And my truth and my mercy shall be with him:and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
Gospel Reading: John 10:11-16
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep: And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me. As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep. And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.
