Roe And Doe: 40 Plus 4 Days Late(r)

My annual post about the anniversary of the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States that legalized abortion across the country for any reason (or no reason at all) is late.  My "excuse" is I got caught unaware of it due to scheduling conflicts.  The newly (re-)elected President (and Vice-President), by amended law (one doesn't have to look too hard to see the irony), were given their respective oaths of office on January 20.  Since that date fall on a Sunday this year, that ceremony was held in private on that day, with the public celebration held the day after.  I guess the nation's capital couldn't handle having two big events on concurrent days, so the annual March for Life was held yesterday (and the West Coast March for Life today).

I don't get it.  According to mainstream media reports, "nobody" attended this rally which marks the 40th. anniversary of this event in Washington, DC.  Well, maybe they're right.  500,000+ "nobodies" (and the National Park Service should have their remarkably accurate estimate soon) were found at the National Mall displaying their peaceful opposition to this act of (in)justice.  Half a million or more people walked from the Capitol Building to the Supreme Court Building in support of life.  That's a lot of "nobodies".  And it was treated as a non-event.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.  There are none so deaf as those who will not hear.  There are none so dumb as those who will not speak.  That is the mainstream media in a nutshell when it comes to this and other like-minded happenings.

It is said that truth is the first casualty in war.  In the Culture War, it certainly seems to be accurate here as well.  But it goes well past this blip on the timeline.  Since the beginning of the 20th. century, existentialism and its philosophical ilk have cemented the principle of subjectivism into the minds and hearts of the culture.  "I think; therefore, I am not" is a summation of its creed.  Being is equal to non-being.  There is no certitude; therefore, let us doubt everything.  What matters only matters to me as an individual   Yet, their ultimate ideal--that there is no such thing as objective truth--is the ultimate contradiction.

Man cannot live with such contradiction.  This way of thinking is the ultimate in terms of a house divided.  And if taken to what seems to be its most logical conclusion, the poor-(pro-)choice advocates will be correct:  because we as humanity thought (wrongly), we as humanity will cease to exist.

This "choice" has been foisted upon us for a generation.  They can't see their logic is killing all of us.  They can't hear the cries to stop this madness.  They speak empty words because the truth is not within their utterances.

St. Paul is correct.  Human wisdom is folly.  And can we really call ourselves wise when we prefer to destroy our own species?

And so these most pivotal battles between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death continue.  Changing hearts and minds to change souls is still the winning strategy.  The parry and thrust for the destiny our our existence continues.

Look at it this way:

If the poor-(pro-)choice group have their way, everybody eventually loses.

If the pro-life group have their way, everybody eventually wins.

Is winning is equal to losing?

Choose Life.
