DR Squared: Memorial Of Saints Joachim And Anne, Parents Of The Blessed Virgin Mary

First Reading:  Sirach 44:1, 10-15
Let us now praise men of renown, and our fathers in their generation. But these were men of mercy, whose godly deeds have not failed:  Good things continue with their seed, Their posterity are a holy inheritance, and their seed hath stood in the covenants. And their children for their sakes remain for ever: their seed and their glory shall not be forsaken. Their bodies are buried in peace, and their name liveth unto generation and generation. Let the people shew forth their wisdom, and the church declare their praise.
Responsorial Psalm:  Luke 1:32b; V. Psalm 132:11, 13-14, 17-18
R.  (T)he Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father;

V.  The Lord hath sworn truth to David,
     and he will not make it void:
     of the fruit of thy womb
     I will set upon thy throne.

V.  For the Lord hath chosen Sion:
     he hath chosen it for his dwelling.
     This is my rest for ever and ever:
     here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.

V.  There will I bring forth a horn to David:
     I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
     His enemies I will clothe with confusion:
     but upon him will my sanctification flourish.
Gospel Reading:  Matthew 13:16-17
But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.
