DR Squared: Posting Update

I almost forgot I was going to run into this scheduling "problem" for May 29. While the vast majority of the diocese in the United States will celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord this Sunday, there will be a handful of provinces that will keep the traditional time of forty days after Easter, which is this Thursday. (I will never understand the rationale behind the transfer to the Sunday before Pentecost. Being a Holy Day of Obligation, I never had a problem assisting at Mass when it was on this weekday.)

Be that as it may, I have decided to post the readings for Ascension on Thursday, along with what else is permitted on the liturgical calendar. This Sunday will only have the readings for the Seventh Sunday of Easter. It's the best of both worlds, and you get extra Scripture to study.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

...We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.  

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. First Reading:  Acts 13:44-52

But the next sabbath day, the whole city almost came together, to hear the word of God. And the Jews seeing the multitudes, were filled with envy, and contradicted those things which were said by Paul, blaspheming.
